Vitesse de traitement

Processing speed refers to the amount of time required for a person to process verbal or visual information and then respond to it. You may notice that during a gallery tour, the participant takes a long time to respond to your question such as ?what do you see??. There may be a delay between being directed to paint and the participant starting to paint.

This is important because, unlike some knowledge which can be remembered and used as needed, understanding processing speed and planning for it is something that a facilitator must actively and consciously act on throughout a program. During Moments artistiques, we must always remember to speak a little slower, and to leave space for answers and activity. Remembering not to rush, and not to be uncomfortable with a few moments of silence will empower participants to comfortably contribute to conversations in their own time.
