Check Yourself at the Door Copy

Before you begin a program, remember to pause, and check your own emotional state. Pay attention to your body language, facial expressions, tone of voice, rate of speech, volume. Take a moment to breathe, put aside any frustrations, anxiety, or disturbance you may be carrying with you from the rest of your day. Smile, slow down and begin in a positive frame of mind. Remember, it is not just your words that communicate with others – your non-verbal cues convey much more. Use open body language and gestures and take the time to set the right tone.

Be present with your participants, leave other concerns of your day behind and enjoy your experience. If you can do this, your participants will too.
