Making the Most of Abilities

Creativity. Sense of Humour. Long term memory. As strengths, these are the ingredients of a shared experience that is meaningful, enjoyable and socially connective for everyone.

This is why we do this – to make the most of abilities that are present. Art and museum collections offer opportunities to tap into personal connections for participants, whether memories of earlier moments in their lives, loved ones or their own interests. They provide sensory enjoyment, and opportunities to experience new and interesting things. Sharing these moments encourages social experiences, and allows for many different forms of expression, for every participant, regardless of their level of ability, prior experiences with museums, or diagnosis.
